A Quick Lesson in Arm Length.

I came across this bit today... and I'm also feeling snarky.

"His body itself was grotesque, his long arms hanging down past his waist..."

Um.  Yeah.  Most arms do go past the waist.  In fact, it would be weird if they didn't.  You'd have arms like a T-Rex.  And while T-Rex's are super cool and would be scary to meet in person, this look has the opposite effect when describing something human-shaped.

If it was meant that the character was just holding their arms at their sides instead of doing something with them, I do not apologize for misinterpreting that description.  Should have been clearer.  Or less clear.  When in doubt, be vague.

Here is a chart and a dictionary definition to prove my point:
"Waist---body area between ribs and hips: the part of the human trunk between the rib cage and the hips..."


Try to remember that, writers of the future.  I'm watching you...


And on a side note, a T-Rex with long arms would be amazing.
